Fortaleza Blanco Tequila

Although Tequila Fortaleza only launched in 2005, they have over 140 years of history in the production of this Mexican spirit. In fact, their great-great-grandfather, Don Cenobio, founded his first distillery in 1873, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, and was the first person to export “mezcal de tequila” to the United States, implementing the use of steam to cook the agave and discovering that Blue Agave was the best for production.

This Fortaleza Blanco Tequila is the smoothest and most flavourful of any we have ever tasted. Agaves are sourced from the Tequila Valley with double distillation in copper pots to 80% proof, before blending with natural spring water from the valley for bottling. This care in craftmanship even extends to the bottles that are hand-blown in Mexico - the perfect finish to a true aficionado’s tequila.

Aromas of citrus, and rich cooked agave fill the nose, with layers of butter, olive, earth, black pepper, and a deep inviting vegetal complexity. Flavours include citrus, cooked agave, vanilla, basil, olive, and lime. The finish is long and deep; complex yet easy to drink. Savour this spirit as a traditional shot or neat over ice.
