Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera

£34.60

PRODUCER: VECCHIA ROMAGNA
SKU: VECCHIANERA

Etichetta Nera black label is Vecchia Romagna's most distinctive product and is consequently Italy's No.1 brandy.  Bold and elegant, it is double distilled from Trebbiano grapes in the Charentais style, skilfully combining continuous and discontinuous distillation. A double ageing process also occurs; first in barriques and then oak barrels.

Colour is characterised by a beautiful luminous coppery antique gold. The nose shows hints of tropical fruit, such as papaya and pineapple, intertwined with layers of vanilla, cinnamon and cloves. The palate shows vanilla and crisp notes combined with caramelised baked pear, clove and subtle sweet cinnamon spice. Smooth, complex and rounded with a lingering aftertaste.

Vecchia Romagna has its origins in the early 1700s with the Burton family perfecting the noble distillatory art in France. They became suppliers of the imperial house of Napoleon I and when the regime fell, their talented heir Jean moved to Italy, settling in Emilia-Romagna and establishing the first Italian steam distillery in 1830. This was where Burton Cognac was first produced, destined to spread all over the world. This 200 year-long history of success in experience, creativity and innovation have led Vecchia Romagna to create unique brandies with an immutable charm.
