Nestled between Macedonia, Albania and Serbia, Kosovo is in one of the sunniest regions of the Balkans with some areas enjoying up to 270 days of sunshine each year. Strawberry Surprises
Fresita Strawberry Sparkling (Chile 8% £9.85) One of our best sellers, this blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel stands out, with each variety fermented separately before blended for a second fermentation to obtain the final extra dry sparkling wine base. Finally small, freshly-picked, intensely flavored Patagonian strawberries (from the foot of the Andes) are added to the natural sparkling wine, making a wine full of intensity, refreshment and strawberry sweetness.
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is the most popular for wine making in the world. Thought to be a natural hybrid of the robust Cabernet Franc red grape and the versatile Sauvignon Blanc white grape, it can be grown in a variety of climates, although it prefers warmer climes.
A Taste of Spain
One of two of the highest premium wine regions in the whole of Spain, Priorat is a small and tightly defined area of viticulture with a history of winemaking stretching back to monasteries in the 12th Century. Its regard is mainly due to the full bodied and concentrated red wines produced, mainly from old vine Garnacha and Carinena (aka Carignan).
Welcoming wines from Serbia
Serbian wine is on the up, with international trade rising in line with a renewed interest in its rich history of wine-making. Having produced wine for over 1000 years, viticulture has long been a key part of Serbian culture with 70,000 hectares of vineyards producing 425,000 tons of grapes a year in nine wine regions.
Sumptuous Shiraz
SHIRAZ, also known as SYRAH, is a black grape born 2000 years ago in the French Rhone Valley. It become beloved for winemaking due to its resistance to disease, full body, fruity complexity, spice and high tannins making it suitable for long ageing, generally suiting 5-9 years with premium wines gaining complexity for up to 25 years.
