Tomatin Distillery are known for producing scotch whiskies that showcase the softer side of the Highlands. Tomatin 12 Year Old is a classically smooth single malt, having been matured in traditional Scotch Whisky, ex-Bourbon and ex-Spanish Sherry casks. Smooth and fruity, a fresh, herbaceous aroma is the prelude to sweet flavours of crème caramel and orchard fruit before a full bodied, buttery finish. A distinguished sherry cask whisky with a little something different.
The Tomatin Spey District Distillery was registered on 8th June 1897, but unfortunately was closed in 1906 (back in production in 1909), and again briefly in 1985, before re-opening in 1986 courtesy of Japanese distillers Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co. The key to success has been a move from wider production of blended Scotch whisky, to a focus on the highest quality single malts. These truly shine, with Tomatin becoming known for careful age and cask maturations, so that each whisky is bursting with flavour and unique characteristics.
