The resulting wine is dark, deep purple in colour and has a brooding bouquet of ripe plum, blackcurrant, violets and vanilla. The palate is rich, layered and textured, filling the mouth with immense power and weight, but retaining finesse with soft, integrated tannins. Black fruits come to the fore, with dark chocolate and subtle eucalyptus on the finish. Try with roast or braised red meats, flavourful pizzas, or cheese boards.
Rising to the modern mark, Vinaceous Wines was established in 2007 by marketer Nick Stacy and winemaker Mike Kerrigan as part of a new movement of non-traditional wine producers. They choose to source grapes from the best vineyards in the premium maritime climate of Margaret River, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, showcasing classic French varietals as well as championing emerging new varietals such as Pinot Grigio, Vermentino and Tempranillo.
