Georges Vigouroux Pigmentum Blanc IGP Gascony
£12.90
Grapes: Ugni Blanc 60 %, Colombard 40 %
A French white wine blend from Gascony, Southwest France using the Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes from a vineyard based on tawny sands and boulbènes which bring together alluvium and clay soils. With an oceanic and temperate climate, the Gers is in a privileged area with a great balance between sun, rain and cool temperatures.
Vinification: skin contact for the Colombard grapes. Static cold settling in insulated vats. The wine is kept on its lees at a temperature of 3°C for two weeks. Each grape variety is separately fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation lasts for 10-20 days and the wine is aged on its fermentation lees for two to six months before regular bâtonnage
This produces a rounded wine, fruity white, perfumed with lime blossom, the soft flavours of tropical fruit - pineapple, guava - given shape and definition by a tangy wash of grapefruit.
Food Matching: This easy-going white wine is best enjoyed well chilled as an aperitif with starters such as stuffed avocado, or with brochettes, shrimp salad, cheese, and desserts such as mango carpacci
