Los Poetas Semillon

Los Poetas (The Poets) is the name given to this wine from Karim Mussi, inspired by some of the greatest; Walter Whitman, Jorge Luis Borges, Allan Poe and Shakespeare. Semillon grapes are harvested from vineyards in La Consulta, an extremely desirable micro region of Argentina's Uco Valley in Mendoza. Grapes go through cold and anaerobic pressing, natural cold static settling, and cool fermentation for 20 days with no malolactic.

Los Poetas is a wine of delicate fruity aromas, showing typical notes of white flowers, herbal nuances and tropical fruits. Its freshness is reminiscent of just-picked grapes. This is followed on the palate by a refreshing acidity, and pure fruit expression without oak, resulting in a pleasurable mouthfeel. Elegant and approachable, try with simply prepared rich fish dishes (salmon, tuna), mild hard cheese, Brie or Camembert.

Karim Mussi, chief winemaker of Bodega Altocedro, is one of the most highly regarded wine makers in Argentina, creating wines in the premium location of La Consulta. Wine Spectator remark that Altocedro “represents real artisanal winemaking, a boutique operation with some serious talent behind the wheel”. The core ethos is that everything their hands touch is driven by terroir, aiming to create wine that speaks distinctly of the place it originates.
