Though New Zealand’s Marlborough region is a relative newcomer to the global wine scene, it is an extremely fast growing, diversifying region with various sub-regions beginning to emerge as more experience leads to greater wines. One such sub-region is that of Dillon’s Point…home to Zephyr.
Owen & Wendy Glover have had their vineyards at Dillon’s Point since the mid 80’s - making it one of the most established in this very young region. Until recently, all of the fruit was sold to various other big name labels but in 2007, for the first time ever, the Zephyr label was born.
Referring to the warm winds that blow across the vineyards, the evocative label is going to make waves. With just two wines initially Zephyr is a focussed range made up of just Sauvignon and Gewurz’.
Produced in small parcels, the gewurz is crisp, scented and delicate with intense mineral, lychee and citrus character. Balanced and more drinkable than many
Described by Tim Atkin MW as “about as good as Marlborough gets”, the Sauvignon Blanc is an intense, textured wine with ample guava, passionfruit, grapefruit and mineral character.
