Vineyard Notes: Teliani Valley (Region Lechkhumi) www.telianivalley.com
Teliani valley was established in 1997 in the highly-regarded area on Tsinandali at the heart of the country’s best viticultural region. The winery sees itself as the successor of Georgian traditions, but interpreted using modern technology and with the help of a bright young team. In 2004, a brand new winery was completed, with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It was equipped with all the most modern technology from Western Europe, and new vineyards were planted in all of Georgia’s best micro zones. Teliani won a major award as Georgia’s best medium-sized enterprise in 2005 and has set up the country’s first school for sommeliers
