| Cellar Notes: | Georgia’s most renowned appellation typically produces deep dense wines from pure Saperavi grown in the micro zone of Mukuzani, recognised for its superior fruit quality since 1888. The fruit for this inky purple wine was hand-selected from the winery’s own estate and into baskets. It was matured in oak for as long as three years to soften the tannins and add smoky complexity to this stunning Georgian wine. |
| Appearance: | Inky purple |
| Aromas: | Stong dark fruit with tobacco undertones. |
| Palate: | Rich damson and black cherry fruit with a smokey undertone. Medium-bodied but concentrated dry wine, with mellow tannins and a long finish. |
| Serving Notes: | Try it with game pie, venison stew or roast beef |
Vineyard Notes: Tbilvino (Controlled Appellation: Kakheti Region) http://www.tbilvino.ge/?hl=en_US
The Tbilvino winery was first established in 1962. It was privatised in 1995 and in 1999; a completely new management team took over bringing fresh ideas. The winery has a young local team of winemakers who have benefited from working with several consultants from Australia, and from Italy, giving both new and old world perspectives, and helping them make the most of their Georgian wine potential.
