| Cellar Notes: | The star of this Bodegas made from selected plots with limited grape production makes this a full flavoured treat of a wine. This is the star of the bodega, made with grapes from selected plots that are especially grown in limited amounts. A great wine the begins on the field, in the vineyard. Harvested in small batches at the optimum time. Unhurried vinification to ensure the grapes transmit all that has been created at the vineyard. Aged in 70% French 30% American oak casks for 12 months then in the bottle for a further 12 months. The right mix of different types of oak, cooperages and toasting levels. Time and patience. Slow evolution carefully supervised to create the Páramo de Corcos Crianza. Natural fining and stabilisation, and the required time. Bottled and placed in the bedroom, where it can dream, evolve, develop and become increasingly complex. The final result: a great wine. |
| Appearance: | Clean bright intense dark cherry red with good depth and a purple rim. |
| Aromas: | Intense complex nose with notes of very ripe almost stewed fruit and balsamic notes. |
| Palate: | Powerful well structured, round with polished ripe tannins that fill the mouth. A wine that conveys many sensations. |
| Serving Notes: | Good with dark meat, flavoursome stews and grilled steaks. |
Vineyard notes:
Bodegas Paramo de Corcos
Paramo de Corcos is a special area within the D.O. Ribera del Duero because of its particular characteristics. It is a plateau at an altitude of 950 m above sea level, with a harsh climate with temperatures ranging from highs of 40 °C in the summer to lows of -15 °C in winter and very little rainfall. The soil is also very special, with unique characteristics for growing vines. It consists of sandy loam with a deep layer of clay underneath and a pebbly surface on top.
The 30 ha of vineyards show a wide range of traits that make them unique. The vines have been grafted onto old, quality vines from the area.
These factors make the wines of Paramo de Corcos different from any other from the vineyard. Every plot is controlled and studied. They have been working at the vineyard for many years, so they know each plot perfectly and this allows them to obtain the maximum potential of the vineyards. In view of the exceptional setting for grape growing and the availability of a native grape variety that has adapted to the harshness of the area, with unique characteristics for making great wines, it was a question of time before a wine such as Paramos de Corcos could be created, a wine that reflects the land, the climate, the grape variety and the work of its people.
