Ventisquero Heru Pinot Noir 2007
Price £21.10
Stock Level: 12
| Grape: | Pinot Noir |
| Strength: | 14% |
| Style: | Full Bodied |
| Size: | 750ml |
| Cellar Notes: | Planted on south-facing slopes so as to receive direct sunlight in the mornings and indirect in the afternoons (for slow ripening); rows are oriented from east to west so the sunlight passes over the vines without hitting the bunches directly. This enables all of the bunches to ripen evenly.
Soil: red clay down to the first 60 cm and then granitic rock alternating. This provides complexity as a result of the granite influencing the wine. Besides, as the soil is not very deep, vitality is controlled and all of the plant’s energy focuses on the bunches and not on excess foliage.
Climate: Casablanca experiences maximums of 26°C and minimums of 13°C whilst the grapes are ripening so this process is slow and as the maximums are not very high, acidity levels are high. This, among others, enables the wine to keep its freshness, besides a long life once bottled.
Harvests: during the early hours of the morning, this is done 100% manually. |
| Appearance: | Deep ruby red in colour. |
| Aromas: | Complex, fresh red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and acid cherries. The complexity provided by the French oak casks gives some hints of spices and vanilla (35% in new barrels, 35% in second hand ones and 30% in third hand ones). All of the wine is aged in casks over a period of 14 months. Subtle mineral hints provide the complexity |
| Palate: | Subtle notes of vanilla and spice interlace with a delicate minerality. Juicy and concentrated, featuring smooth tannins, rounded off with an aftertaste of elegant French casks |

Ventisquero first began production in 1998 and is currently managed by a youthful, creative and entrepreneurial team. Faithful to our slogan of going “A Step Beyond,” we make high-quality wines in a modern and cutting-edge style. We find ways to communicate our message in a manner that is both heartfelt and distinctive.
Instrumental in the construction of our new winery in the Maipo Coast in 2000 was Chief Enologist Felipe Tosso. This was the valley from where our first grapes were harvested and made into wine. Three years later, we ventured into the Casablanca Valley and the famous valley of Apalta, recognized today as the birthplace of Ventisquero’s most celebrated wines.
With estate vineyards located in Chile’s best winegrowing regions – the Maipo Coast, Casablanca and Colchagua – and rigorous research aimed at understanding terroir, our mission is to consistently deliver the finest quality in our wines.
