Vineyard Notes:
Charmilles
Charmilles is a 10 hectare, family run estate based near Chavignol. The blend for their white Sancerre is put together from various different base wines that are all vinified slightly differently, according to which part of the vineyard they come from. The vineyard’s terroir is primarily made up of a chalky clay soil but there is also a high proprtion of silex or flint, producing a more mineral, tauter wine. About a fifth of the vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir, from which they make a very good rosé.
