Sol Lucet Koshu 2010
Description
Vineyard: Yamanashi
The Yamanashi Prefecture, where Koshu grapes and wines are produced, is located an hour and a half by train from Tokyo, at the foot of Mt. Fuji and surrounded by mountains in the 3,000 meter range. First brought to Japan over a thousand years ago across the Silk Road (through China from the Caucasus), the uniquely Japanese Koshu grape is grown primarily in the Yamanashi Prefecture with a total vineyard area of a miniscule 480ha. The climactic extremes of heat, long days of summer and well-drained volcanic soils are especially suited for cultivating grapes and soft fruit such as peaches and cherries.
