Cellar Notes:This extraordinary champagne unleashes its exuberant crescendo of freshness that is at once totally unexpected and utterly Krug. Grapes are rigorously selected from Krug's four vineyards at Mesnil-sur-Oger, Ay, Trepail and Ambonnay. The grapes are crushed, and the resulting must is fermented in small, 205 litre barrels made from split oak from the central region of France. When the primary fermentation is completed, an intensive selection of barrels for blending is performed. The second fermentation then takes place in bottle where the wine then ages in contact with its lees. After degorging, Krug is left to mature in bottle until it is ready to be released. This length of time depends entirely on the vintage.
Appearance:Rich, radiant gold.
Aromas:Tartness of pear and candied lemon, the roundness of ripe fruit and nougatine.
Palate:Today, after more than a decade of bottle aging, Krug explodes on the palate with tremendous depth and complexity. The first impression is intense, yet it develops in the glass with delicacy, revealing lightly spiced notes of dried figs and ripe quince. Underlined by a superb structure, this wine maintains a remarkable freshness for its long aging.
Serving Notes:Is the perfect foil for rich, creamy dishes. It complements turbot in hollandaise sauce or sea bass in white butter, poultry served in a creamy sauce or thick, creamy desserts.

Although now part of the giant Louis Vuitton-Moët Hennessey group and incorporated into the Veuve-Clicquot company, Krug is still run by the Krug family, which originated in Germany and founded the firm in 1843. The wines are all fermented in oak, a practice that adds complexity, finesse and richness. Long aging on the yeast, strict selection of grapes and a father-to-son winemaking tradition add up to the quality that makes Krug so highly regarded
