Appearance:Dark and lush wine, with a purplish-crimson and a medium crimsom rim.
Aromas:Attractive, mysterious and complex. Full of enticing aromas and flavours of plums, liquorice and mint, all intertwined with the toasty oak.
Palate:Full bodied, with good and refined tannins that match perfectly with the alcohol warmth and the fruit weight. Mouth-filling. Yet room left for further development.
Serving Notes:Excellent with barbequed or indeed enjoyed on its own.

Vineyard:

Bodegas Uncastellum

http://www.uncastellum.com

The vineyard is located in the municipality of Uncastillo, bordering on Catiliscar and Sos del Rey Católico. The plantation was done on the south-eastern slopes, in order to make the most of the solar energy and compensate for the high altitude of the fields. This ensures a correct ripening of the fruit, as well as a notable diurnal temperature variation. In order to prevent erosion, the slopes have a permanent indigenous plant cover. This indigenous vegetation cover is periodically mowed and left on the slope’s surface to in order to maintain fertility. This land is very rich in chalky stones and was originally covered by a mediterranean forest. An average rainfall of 550/600 mm makes irrigation unnecessary, but ensures the rootstock can pierce properly to the deepest layers and extract the soil’s best characteristics, which make our wines unique.

Product Review
90 out of 100

This review is from The Wine Advocate The 2005 Aureum Organic is composed of equal parts Tempranillo, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in new French oak. Saturated purple in color, it reluctantly surrenders aromas of earth, mineral, espresso, Asian spices, black cherry, and black currant. Dense, rich, and with excellent volume on the palate, this full-flavored offering will continue to blossom for another 2-3 years and have a drinking window extending from 2012 to 2020.
