Cellar Notes:Harvesting of the grapes is exclusively by hand. As the winery is situated at the centre of the domain the grapes are brought to the winery within minutes, an absolute necessity for keeping the fruit characteristics in the heat of Lebanon. The grapes are crushed into steel vats where fermentation is begun with a selected yeast culture and a 5 week maceration period. Fermentation is controlled at a temperature of 28/35°C. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and new French oak barrels where the wine ages for 12 months before bottling at the château.
Appearance:Announced by a beautiful, bright dark colour of deep ruby, limpid and brilliant, with a lightly tiled reflection.
Aromas:A distinguished and intense bouquet of cooked fruits, menthol and toasty cedar.
Palate:An open and generous wine with black fruit and menthol flavours supported by firm, silky tannins and integrated French oak.
Serving Notes:Will complement rich, gamey meats and mature hard cheese. Perfect with a rare sirloin steak or pan fried lamb cutlet. Also shows well with spicy red meat dishes or game with fruit based sauces.

Chateau Kefraya

www.chateaukefraya.com

Situated in the heart of Lebanon, in the Bekaa valley, Château Kefraya's 300 hectare domain extends to the foothills of Mount Lebanon, 20 km to the south of the city of Chtaura. The vineyards are planted in a succession of terraces and hills which are often on quite abrupt slopes, at an altitude of 950 to 1100 meters on clayey, limy and stony soils and with six to seven months a year without any precipitation. The winery is located at the centre of the domain and is fitted with highly sophisticated equipment allowing the manually gathered grapes to be conveyed, picked off from the bunch, vinified and pressed in small quantities and with maximum care and attention to each individual parcel.
